Attached to the card is a real seed packet: approximately 15 fenugreek seeds.

Why the fenugreek

Fenugreek was the only real choice for a card about journeys — one of the great traveler plants, carried along the world's roads for thousands of years, from kitchen to kitchen and country to country. It sprouts in mere days, asks for little, and rewards you twice: tender leaves for picking, and seed pods at summer's end so the journey can begin again. A dependable little plant that always gets where it's going — rather like the person this card is for.

Why it's collectible

Each card in the series carries its own Tiny Bee Code (this one is TB-GL-BUS-08), a card number within its collection, and an edition number written in by hand — one of only 50. The wax seal is applied individually, so no two impressions are quite alike; small differences in shape, thickness, and depth are simply what hand-sealing looks like. Between the seal, the signature, and the numbering, each card leaves my hands as an original hand-finished piece rather than a printed insert.

Growing fenugreek

Sow after the danger of frost has passed. Plant a quarter inch deep in full sun. Water gently and keep the soil lightly moist. Thin the seedlings to four to six inches apart. Harvest the tender leaves as they come, or let the pods mature and save the seeds — fenugreek is quick, unfussy, and one of the easiest herbs a beginner can grow, happy in a pot or a garden bed.

Seeds are for planting only, not for consumption.

A few practical notes

Cards ship flat and protected so the wax seal and token arrive intact.
